So the other day I was thinking about 3 minute pop songs, what ever happened to the 2 minute pop song….
I remembered I had these guys called The Choir Quit who do that, fucking awesome noisy 2 minute pop songs. They manage to squeeze 2 or 3 verses and a couple of choruseseses into minute and a half tracks. Brilliant.
The Choir Quit come from Columbia, South Carolina. The same place as Toro Y Moi who produced their stuff about a year and a half ago. While recording it he said
started playing williams vocals through some effects…very awesome results. maybe a song will pop up somewhere…

Ah, Florida. One of my favorite states on the east coast. I actually prefer Ft. Lauderdale to Miami, even though Miami has a good In The Groove.
In any case, tonight I’m bringing you a single from a name I don’t recognize, with a remix from some guys you will recognize. The artist is Ivory and the single is entitle Hand Grenade. Both tracks are terribly good in themselves. The original from Ivory is a more upbeat version of itself. Nothing too wobbly or obnoxious. It’s actually quite good. The opposite side is a remix from Excision & Datsik, notorious for it’s grimy basslines and delicious melodies. Featuring the same typical wobble you’d ever expect from Excision + Datsik, they are definitely trying to make a name for themselves in this dark industry.

It’s pretty rare that Sufjan Stevens backed Asthmatic Kitty Records puts out an album that I’m not a fan of, which is why I’m not surprised to be digging the debut release from Yuuki Matthews. Music For Savage Imagery is a part of Asthmatic Kitty’s “Library Catalogue Music”, a collection of instrumental albums being released by the label. Seattle-based Matthews released this album in hopes that it may be used as the background of movies or digital projects in the future.
